The Mountain River Concert Series Presents

Ken Childress and Jimmy Mullins
The Duo of the Mountains
Saturday, August 30
7:00 pm
Admission: $5 Adults; $2 Children
This Clintwood, Virginia duo has been performing in shows across the region for the last six years. But they’ve had thirty-six years of good practice, playing together year after year on their front porches, in their living rooms, and on a flat rock down by Pond River before deciding to take the show on the road!
The duo plays a variety of music, from traditional mountain and old time to gospel, swing, and blues. Both members sing lead and harmony. Ken plays rhythm guitar, while Jim prefers “finger pickin” on the guitar and old-style five-string banjo.
The group has played in a wide range of venues including Berea, KY’s Traditional Music Festival; the Jettie Baker Center in conjunction with the Ralph Stanley Museum; Bristol’s the Pickin’ Porch; the Virginia Highlands Festival in Abingdon, and at many other festivals and events throughout the region. Additionally, the duo coordinates the annual Old Time Music Festival at the Breaks Interstate Park. The band has five albums together, plus some additional solo work, which will be available for purchase. For more information about the duo, visit their website at www.kenchildressandjimmymullins.com
